Choosing Courses
Check out our guide for help choosing your courses for ClickerExpo 2020.
Check out the ClickerExpo Seattle and Louisville 2020 programs!
Sessions are lecture-based with a presentation and often video examples. These courses are open-seating.
Learning Labs provide an opportunity to work with your dog or to observe others working with dogs under the tutelage of the ClickerExpo faculty. Dog and handler teams practice skills with observers playing different roles - whether taking data, coaching or just observing! These courses should be reserved during the registration process.
In the ClickerExpo course schedule Sessions are typically the first four blocks and Learning Labs are the last two blocks in any given time slot. 8AM courses follow a Session format unless specifically noted. If you click on a title, you’ll find the “Course Type” directly under the faculty name.
ClickerExpo registration includes access to all courses. You receive unlimited access to all Sessions and up to 4 Observer Spots in Labs for a Three Day Registration, 2 Labs for a Two Day Registration, or 1 Lab for a One Registration.
If you plan to participate as a dog/handler team, you may enroll in a Learning Lab once registration opens for $12.95.
Each three-day registrant can reserve spots in up to 4 Labs, 2 Labs for a Two Day Registration, or 1 Lab for a One Registration.
You can schedule your Labs any way you choose. For example, if you are going for three days, you can participate in one Lab on Friday and two on Saturday, one each day, or three the same day. You choose what fits your schedule best.
ClickerExpo 2020 registration includes access to more than 75 courses, including observer spots in Learning Labs (on a space-available basis). You also have access to reserve working spots in Labs. There is a $12.95 fee for dog and handler spots in Learning Labs; participant and observer spots are complimentary.
For pricing details, check out the Seattle and Louisville pages.
- Tracks! This year at ClickerExpo LIVE, courses are curated into Tracks. Tracks are an easy way for you to locate all the courses we offer on the topics of interest to you! A track always has at least four courses in it, and our largest Track – Expanding Skills (the beating heart of ClickerExpo LIVE) - has seven courses.
- So easy! Courses in a track have been scheduled to avoid overlap, so you can see all the courses in a single Track without conflicts.
- Mix and match. Unlike other conferences, you are not locked into any Track! Your registration is open-ended, so you can participate in courses from as many Tracks as you like.
- Choice, simplified. Tracks are a convenient way to navigate the many course choices at ClickerExpo LIVE and easily find the courses that match your areas of interest. Filter by Track and see the titles, descriptions, faculty, and timing of all the courses in that Track.
The Tracks are where it’s at! There are 11 tracks at ClickerExpo LIVE. See the list of all 11 tracks below and go to the Program page to begin filtering by Track.

- High-Performance Training: These courses help build the skills and knowledge needed for performance in environments where outcomes are measured and results matter, whether on stage, in the ring, or out in the field.

Yes! We have four distinct course formats.
Dem-OH!
Learn about a training topic and watch it come to life! Live demonstrations from world-class trainers working with their animals or with colleagues’ animals from around the globe. Includes demonstrations, presentation, and audience Q&A.
Learning Lab
Participate from home alongside trainers and teachers and your animals! Practice the exercises with your own animals during designated working times or sign up for one of the limited Spotlight Spots to also get coaching from the presenter(s) in view of the virtual audience. Includes audience Q&A and, usually, a presentation and a live demonstration, too!
Spotlight Spots (limited and require pre-registration):
- Some Learning Labs are designed for you to work directly with the Faculty and Speakers with your animal. These Labs have a limited number of Animal/Handler Spotlight Team spots available at $19.95.
- Other Labs focus on developing your skills and are intended for humans only. These Labs are categorized into two options:
- Spotlight Participant Spots require pre-registration and provide one-on-one interactions with our Faculty and Speakers, priced at $9.95.
- Others are open to everyone for attendance and participation.
Make sure to read the course descriptions fully.
Prefer to work with your animal off-camera without Faculty feedback, or simply observe? That’s fine too, and no pre-registration is required in that case.
Let’s Talk! (Panel Discussions)
Delve into a specific topic in a moderated discussion with a panel of speakers gathered together on our virtual stage, with time for audience Q&A. Ready for lively discussion, unique perspectives, and the expertise of those who are the best at what they do? Let’s Talk!
Webinar
Prefer a traditional online presentation? We’ve got those, too! These courses are for attendees who like learning from a webinar-style presentation, with time for Q&A.
In the ClickerExpo LIVE conference program, course types are listed within each course box directly under the speaker.
ClickerExpo LIVE features more than 40 LIVE courses! Unless otherwise noted in the description, the course is new!
There are a very limited number of LIVE 2025 courses that were also presented at LIVE in prior years. For these courses, the content will be similar but the training is LIVE so the experience will be unique—and you’ll likely learn something new!
ClickerExpo LIVE registration includes access to all courses PLUS access to all the 2025 conference course recordings for one year.
There are limited Spotlight Spots in Learning Labs that require pre-registration to get coaching from the presenter(s) in view of the virtual audience. There is a maximum of 1 Spotlight Spot per registrant.
- Spotlight Spots in Learning Labs are meant for you to work with your animal. Those Labs have limited Animal/Handler Spotlight Team spots for $19.95.
Make sure to read the Learning Lab course descriptions fully, including the participant notes and any prerequisite sessions.
Prefer to work with your animal off-camera without Faculty or Speaker feedback, or simply observe? That’s fine too, and no pre-registration is required in that case. You may attend an unlimited number of Labs as an observer.
Each registrant can reserve one Spotlight Spot in a Learning Lab to receive coaching from the presenter(s) in view of the virtual audience. (Please note that these spots are extremely limited.)
A great perk of our virtual Learning Labs is that even without a Spotlight Spot you can work with your animal off camera and participate in the exercises. You just won’t receive feedback from the instructor.
You will see that all Learning Lab descriptions have Spotlight Spot Prerequisites, which include animal/handler skills, equipment, and more that speakers will expect those that sign up for Spotlight Spots to have/have available during the Learning Lab. Please be sure to check the prerequisites before registering for a Spotlight Spot.
Since each Animal/Handler Spotlight Team and Spotlight Participant will appear on camera during ClickerExpo LIVE, there are additional expectations for those that sign up for Spotlight Spots. Animal/Handler Spotlight Teams or Spotlight Participants must agree to:
- Be on camera in a well-lit room.
- Have enough space to work comfortably while remaining visible to the ClickerExpo audience.
- Have sufficient internet bandwidth to participate on camera.
- Test your computer and equipment on your own prior to participating in this Lab.
- Join the Learning Lab online 15 minutes before the start.
It is also recommended that those with Spotlight Spots have a wireless headset, as you will be working at a distance from your computer, and will need to be heard during the Learning Lab.
When Learning Labs are based on concepts presented in a preceding course , those Labs have "In Action" in their titles; and the corresponding course will be listed as a prerequisite for those Labs. Note that the prerequisite course is only a requirement if you are a participant in the Lab, but Lab observers are strongly encouraged to attend the Session as well.
Learning Lab Faculty assume that participants have attended the prerequisite course , if there is one. Please do not register to participate in a Lab if you do not plan to take the prerequisite course.
There are Learning Labs that are not directly linked to Learning Sessions; these Labs offer great exploratory learning opportunities.
We're glad you asked! We have a handy video that shows you how to add the Spotlight Spot to your agenda in registration. (Press play on the video below. To make it bigger, click the button in the lower right-hand corner.)
You do not need to pre-register to observe or to work with your animal off-camera.
No. You can either register for an available Learning Lab or join the waitlist for one that is full.
Here's how the waitlist works:
- As attendees change their schedules, spots open up.
- When a spot opens up and you are on the waitlist, you will be notified by email in the order you joined the waitlist.
- To add the Lab, see the question see Section 3: View/Modify Registration.
- You will have 12 hours before the next person on the waitlist is notified. Details will be provided in the email.
**Please Note: Being on the waitlist does not guarantee you the next available spot. When a spot opens up, you will be notified in the order you were waitlisted via email, and new registrants will be able to register, but only the first to do so will be added. After you are notified, if you do not register within the time stated, you will be removed from the waitlist. We encourage you to add events@clickertraining.com to your email contacts to ensure receipt of all emails.
**Learning Lab limits will still apply when you are notified of an open spot. If you choose to add a lab you have been notified of, but have reached your limit, you will need to modify your schedule.

Please refrain from bringing up your own experience during a lecture, i.e. “My dog always...” or “My horse never...” Attendees should reserve these type of questions for one-on-one conversation.
Appropriate questions will be based off course subject-matter or will be questions that will benefit a larger audience's collective learning.
Virtual Meeting Etiquette
All participants will be muted upon entering courses. Please submit your questions via the Chat or Q&A feature. We will address as many as possible.
Please use the chat feature appropriately and refrain from private conversations in the public chat during a course.
During the conference, please make sure that your device’s camera is off when the session begins.
In some courses, you may be asked to turn your camera on to ask a question. In that case, a moderator will request that you turn your camera on.

By agreement with the speakers, attendees may not audiotape or videotape during Sessions or Labs. Please avoid using flash cameras during videos or demonstrations. If you are taking still pictures, please don’t obscure the view for other people by moving in front of them.
During the conference Sessions and Labs, please silence all cell phones. Please take all private conversations into the hotel foyer/lobby areas while the speakers are presenting.
Write them down—that’s what the pages in the back of this program are for! You may find that your question is answered later in the Session. If not, ask your neighbors during lunch or break times—it’s a good way to make new friends. Technical Issues/Concerns
You will need high-speed internet to watch the courses live. You can review Zoom’s internet bandwidth requirements here.
If for any reason, your internet is not sufficient during the live event, you’ll still have access to the planned recordings in your digital library after the conference. You can already test your system’s ability to stream the conference recordings by watching one of our free videos on our Video on Demand site.
While we will certainly help you troubleshoot problems with the conference platform and share resources available to help with our video conference platform, it’s important to recognize that we cannot control the quality of your internet at any given time, and it may be possible that you are unable to watch all or some of the events live.

While we deeply regret if any technological/internet issues occur, no refunds will be issued. While we are taking all precautions to avoid technological/internet challenges, there may be situations that happen that are outside of our control. By registering for this event, you acknowledge this risk, and waive any claim of a refund.
There is an inherent risk in presenting live from locations all over the world (including remote locations) and there is the possibility of any number of disruptions including but not limited to the following:
- A presenter is unable to connect, and therefore the course is also unable to be presented or recorded;
- An attendee can’t connect;
- A course is interrupted or is unable to be completed, and is therefore also unable to be recorded;
- The conference platform or the network that it relies on goes down;
- Intermittent or unclear audio or video transmission;
- The recording feature malfunctions;
- And so on.
We are compiling resources to help you prepare technologically for the event. Please take some time to review the Prepare for ClickerExpo LIVE section of the FAQs to help alleviate some issues prior to the start of the event.

Prepare for ClickerExpo LIVE
Yes! The conference platform, whether you choose to access it on your phone or on your computer, is home base for all things ClickerExpo LIVE! It is where you can find links to the courses, more information about sponsors, the link to the virtual store, receive notifications, and so much more!
While it is not an app, it is a mobile-responsive website that can be accessed from any device with internet access and a browser. In particular, the platform is compatible with the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge.
Stay tuned for more information about accessing the conference platform closer to the event.
We are excited to have ClickerExpo LIVE be a virtual learning experience like no other! To bring that experience to your home, we will be utilizing Zoom for all of our courses (unless otherwise noted).
For each attendee to have the best possible experience, we recommend using the desktop client. You can download that here. Only use the web client if you can't access the other options.
Whether you are new to Zoom or an experienced user, there are additional resources available to assist you:
To best utilize the Zoom platform and join ClickerExpo LIVE presentations, you will need to have a Zoom account.
To sign up for your own free account, visit zoom.us/signup and enter your email address. You will receive an email from Zoom (no-reply@zoom.us). In this email, click Activate Account.
So that we can best assist you during the event, please be sure the name used on your Zoom account is the same as your registration. And when possible, use the same email address.
For attendees participating in a Spotlight Spot in which you will be required to appear on camera and share audio, permissions will be given to you by the Zoom meeting host. Prior to the event, be sure to test your microphone, camera, lighting, and that you are fully visible on screen if working away from your computer.
When you join a Zoom meeting, we ask that you turn your camera off so you do not appear on screen. Each attendee will be muted by default. Click here for more information on joining a Zoom meeting and configuring Audio & Video.
By turning on your camera and /or audio for any reason, you understand that you will be video and audio recorded by our organization as part of the experience, and that recordings will be available following the event to attendees, offered for commercial sale or resale and used on our social channels, email, and/or website or those of our authorized partners and may be used for future event promotions.
